Many people have heard of a school called “Full Sail University” but few people are really familiar with it. If you are interested in earning a college degree online through this school or any other online school, it’s always a good idea to check it out to see how it compares to other schools in the nation. To do so we need to take a look at the school’s accreditation and its history.
Earning a college degree online makes a lot of sense for many people. This is because it dramatically increases access to higher education for those who have to work full-time and are unable to attend classes in person. In addition, online learning gives you the ability to skip the long commutes to and from school so that you can save valuable fuel and time.
Full Sail University is located in Winter Park, Florida. However, the school was originally founded in Dayton, Ohio in 1979. The original purpose of the school was to be a training academy for new sound engineers for the music recording industry. The university quickly outgrew its original location and purpose and increased its academic offerings to include such exciting and unique degree programs in such fields as film studies, show production, video game development and many others.
Full Sail University should not be considered a school that only offers degrees online. In fact, the school offers many more degree programs at its Winter Park campus than it does online. The school’s degree programs are very different from what you’ll find at a typical university. Its degree programs are so unique that many well-known companies in the entertainment industry frequently visit the campus to recruit the school’s graduates.
Does Full Sail University’s accreditation check out? The university is accredited although there is something you should know about its accreditation. The school is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC). The ACCSC is a legitimate accrediting agency and is recognized by the Federal Government. It could potentially be a problem, however, because ACCSC accreditation is not considered to be the highest form of accreditation a college or university can hold. “Regional accreditation” holds that distinction. How can this be a problem? It can be a problem if you enroll in an ACCSC degree program and then decide to transfer to another school. Most schools will not accept ACCSC credits in transfer.
